The Japanese Kikudo Genno hammer is a traditional workshop hammer designed for woodworkers — cabinetmakers, carpenters or sculptors — who seek precision, comfort and efficiency in striking.
The head is manufactured using selective hardening: only its striking faces are hardened, while the core of the head remains made of softer steel. This process provides a hard surface for a clean strike, while also absorbing some of the shock and reducing vibrations transmitted to the forearm, thus decreasing fatigue during prolonged use.

The compact head allows for high precision when starting to drive in a nail or awl, and the other slightly domed face helps to press the nail head flush with the surface.

The unvarnished Japanese white oak handle offers a comfortable grip and optimal balance with the head. The octagonal head shape also contributes to excellent control during striking.

This hammer is also used to push Japanese wood chisels (Nomi), thanks to the combination of striking precision and comfort offered by its design.
