The Ulmia mortise chisel is a benchmark tool for cutting mortises. Designed for intensive use, it is aimed at demanding users seeking precision, strength and durability.

Ulmia chisels are manufactured in Germany by Ulmia GmbH, a company specializing in woodworking tools since the late 19th century. With a traditional European design, they are forged from an alloy steel containing chromium and molybdenum, guaranteeing an excellent cutting edge and a long cutting life.

The hardening is carried out at 60 Rockwell by heating in electric furnaces, ensuring a homogeneous distribution of heat and optimal regularity of the steel.
After forging, the blades are ground, precisely surfaced to obtain perfect flatness, then polished and sharpened before fitting the handle.

The hornbeam hardwood handle, reinforced by two steel ferrules, offers excellent shock resistance and a reliable grip, suitable for mallet work.

Although positioned in the high-end market, Ulmia chisels offer one of the best compromises in resistance/quality/price for professional and durable use.
